The Campus
Snuggled within an acre-and-a-half campus in the heart of Whitefield, Kinfolk Montessori Preschool provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for young children to learn and grow. The outdoor space features vegetable gardens, sandpits, music walls, and outdoor storytelling areas, all adding an aesthetic touch while being mindful of security features like sensory pathways and slow-learning zones, truly making the campus safe and accessible.

Exploration
At Kinfolk Montessori, our outdoor spaces are thoughtfully designed as an extension of the learning environment — not just for play, but for self-exploration, purposeful movement, and fostering a lasting connection with nature and its offerings. These experiences nurture a deep sense of trust, curiosity, and belonging in every child.

Open Space
Our thoughtfully prepared open-air environments invite children to connect with nature at their own pace. Purposeful play areas—sandpits, swings, spacious play zones, and a wooden play tower—support their physical growth, motor skills, and imaginative exploration. Beyond guided activities, children roam freely through grassy lawns and vibrant gardens filled with fruit trees, flowers, and healing herbs, nurturing curiosity, wonder, and a deep respect for nature. Everything indoors flows seamlessly into the outdoors—two spaces working in harmony.

Atelier
In French, the word Atelier means “studio” or “workshop.” Kinfolk’s Atelier houses dedicated spaces for STEM, Art, LEGO, and Role Play.
A key purpose of the Atelier is to offer children of all ages access to a rich variety of high-quality materials, serving as a central space in the preschool where collections of thoughtfully curated items are explored. These often include stones, shells, leaves, dried flowers, and other natural, open-ended materials that inspire creativity and support children’s learning.
The Atelierista—an educator with a background in visual arts—works closely with small groups of children in the Atelier. They collaborate with classroom teachers to support curriculum development, research, and documentation across the school.

STEM
STEM is an abbreviation for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. It is an integrated approach to learning that encourages young children to think broadly, solve problems creatively, and make meaningful connections to real-world situations. This interdisciplinary method has been at the heart of many modern innovations.
At Kinfolk Montessori Playschool, teachers intentionally design STEM experiences that empower children to take the lead in their own exploration. The thoughtfully prepared environment in our Atelier offers a wide range of learning opportunities, nurturing children’s natural curiosity and giving them the freedom to explore, discover, and create—both indoors and outdoors.
Process Art
Art offers children a unique way to explore the world through all their senses. At Kinfolk, we believe that overly controlled play limits genuine learning. By offering open-ended art materials or placing everyday objects in unexpected contexts, we invite children to think, reflect, and express their ideas freely.
Art is self-chosen and independent of adult expectations. It allows children to test their own theories, make discoveries, and follow their inner curiosity rather than someone else’s instructions.
At Kinfolk, our Atelier provides a thoughtfully prepared environment filled with uninterrupted play invitations and carefully curated art materials. Here, children are free to explore, create, and bring their ideas to life—many of which are proudly displayed on our Gallery Wall.

Lego
At Kinfolk, one of our core philosophies is encouraging children to learn through play—consistently, purposefully, and with joy. Our Atelier includes a dedicated LEGO space with large LEGO tables designed to spark creativity, imagination, and teamwork.
When children collaborate on a LEGO build, they learn to share ideas, negotiate, plan, and work towards a common goal, creating a rich and enjoyable social experience. LEGO also strengthens fine motor skills as children connect pieces of varying shapes and sizes, building dexterity through hands-on practice.
The educational benefits of LEGO are extensive. It enhances communication skills, develops mathematical thinking and problem-solving abilities, nurtures persistence, and, most importantly, helps children build focus and patience.
Role Play
Role play is a powerful form of play where children take on different roles and act them out as a way of understanding themselves and the world around them. By pretending to be someone or something else, children discover new ways to express themselves, share thoughts and ideas, and explore their emotions. It is an essential part of early childhood development.
At Kinfolk, under the Atelier, we offer a dedicated Role Play space equipped with a kitchen setup, a large dress-up mirror, a laundry station with baskets, a drying stand, an ironing board, and more. We also have an outdoor mud kitchen that creates a vivid, real-world play experience. These thoughtfully designed spaces empower children to make choices, act out their feelings, and build a deeper connection with themselves. Through role play, they naturally engage in language development, early math and literacy, social interaction, self-regulation, and collaborative play, all of which foster meaningful, play-based learning.

Library
Libraries in preschools are treasure troves of knowledge waiting to be discovered. Our library at Kinfolk is no exception. It is not just a collection of books; it is a portal into diverse realms of imagination and learning.
As you enter the New Block, you are greeted by our vibrant library, a thoughtfully designed space with cozy reading nooks, easily accessible shelves, and an atmosphere that naturally encourages exploration. From timeless classics to contemporary gems, our carefully curated collection caters to a wide range of interests. We house beloved authors like Dr. Seuss, Oliver Jeffers, Julia Donaldson, and Eric Carle, along with cherished Indian publications from Tulika, Pratham, and Karadi.
In this inviting environment, children immerse themselves in stories where every page becomes a gateway to knowledge, a haven for the inquisitive and a retreat for those seeking the magic of literature.
Our school library is more than a room filled with books; it is a community of learners, dreamers, and budding readers.
